Sword & Staff

Posted in lotro with tags , , , , , , on August 27, 2010 by Corleth

After about five hours of grinding though Forochel and then Angmar, my lore master finally has her ‘Sword and Staff’ legendary trait – and mightily good it is too. I can’t believe I never missed it! Not only do you get the bonuses that the trait itself provides, but also the bonuses from whatever sword you equip – not to mind the additional attacks and subsequent DPS.

My LM also acquired the 10 radiance boots [from the Watcher set] on Tuesday night, after running both the Turtle raid, and Grand Stairs (HM), with my kin. She now has 40 radiance, and is back in Mirkwood trying to finish volume two, and gain Kindred with the Malledhrim. Finally, I even tagged along on my kin’s Sammath Gul run last night, and picked up her first two Dol Guldur medallions in the process…we didn’t manage to kill Gorothul, but it was fun getting there – and I learnt a load, including the importance of mezzing what and when I’m told, and the importance of stun protection on your tank…!

That’s it – nothing else to report – no other toons have been given an outing since my last post!

Next Stop, Mirkwood!

I’m all finished up with my Warden in the south-west segment of Angmar. Now at level 43 I’m now questing in the Misty Mountains, and acquiring class quests pages while I’m at it. Once I hit 44, I’ll probably head up to Forochel, but I might just work though the Misty’s, back to eastern Angmar and then straight on to Eregion.

I’ve mainly been playing my Lore-Master over the last couple of weeks, though. She’s now halfway between level 64 and 65. I’m completely done in Lorien, acquired Kindred rep with the Galladhrim, and have started the [volume 2 book 9] Mirkwood content. However, over the last few days I’ve also been working on my virtues, plus running Grand Stairs for Moria Medallions. I even have my first radiance pieces (+10 radiance boots & gloves). Book wise, I’ve completed the 2.5.5 fellowship quests, and am now at 2.6.8 – which my kin is hopefully running this week. Once that’s done, I’ll have all my legendary traits! Oh yes, and I’ve also completed the Legend of the Deeps trait, so all the swift routes are now open to me [within Moria]. All in all, loads done!

None of my other alts have had much of an airing over the last two weeks. My rune-keeper is still stuck in Eregion on level 52, and will not be moving until my Lore-Master is raid-ready….which could be a couple more weeks away yet…

A Fruitful Week

It’s been an interesting week. I’ve been continuing to quest in Forochel with my rune keeper, and she hit level 51 on Tuesday. She also made Ally with the Lossoth. I should mention that is the first toon that I’ve actually played though Forochel – my previous levelling in the 45ish to 50ish range has always been via the Angmar route, and I have to say that Forochel is refreshingly different – not as dark, more solo-able, and some nice rewards to boot. So, I’ve now decided to keep going in Forochel until I hit Kindred rep – I’d like that Tundra horse – and I’ll move on to Eregion after that. I’m guessing that this will mean my rune keeper will be level 53 or even 54 before she hits Moria – but that will have its own benefits…

I’m taking my time with my lore master too, who is currently still at level 59, and is running quests around the Redhorn Loads and Flaming Deeps. I’d like to complete the three Moria questing deeds before heading on out to Lorien, so I’ve a week or two’s work left in front of me (at least at the speed I do quests!). The deeds in question are:

1. Hero of the Upper Levels

  • (Gives the following swifts: To 21st Hall from 1st Hall. To 1st Hall from 21st Hall).

2. Exemplar of the Central levels

  • (Gives the following swift: To Dolvien-View from 1st Hall).

3. Legend of the Deeps

  • (Gives the following swifts: To the Shadowed Refuge from 21st Hall, and 1st Hall. To 1st Hall from The Shadowed Refuge. To 21st Hall from The Shadowed Refuge).

I also want to hit Kindred rep with the Iron Garrison Guards so that I can pick up the Nature-Friend legendary LM trait – I need about another 20k of rep to get there, so it’s within sight.

Other than that, I’ve hit kindred rep with the Melledhrim with my main (my tank, Corleth) and finished volume 1!
