Another New Mount

I’ve finally hit Kindred reputation with the Grey Company with my lore-master – and picked up the Grey Company mount as a result. Nothing too exciting, I know, but there’s not much been happening in-game over the last week or so.

I think everyone is waiting for ‘Update 2’ to hit. From what I’ve read, it looks like it will hit the EU servers on or around the 22nd March – maybe. After the huge delay to ‘Update 1’ here in the EU (last autumn), nobody is counting any chickens 😉

I have to say that the thing I’m most looking forward to with regard to the new update, is the LI changes. As a casual player, and a bit of an alto-holic, I’m not someone who has ever gotten near maxing out my LIs with regard to relics. I have a few tier 9s scattered across my various level-caped alts…but only a few. The new changes should make it much easier for me to acquire top level (now tier 6) relics, for each of my LIs. Still, we’ll see…

I’m also looking forward to the new raids. In my kin, I think we’re all a bit burnt out on the existing raids – BG excepted; and as I’ve said before, whilst we’d love a crack at the Lieutenant in challenge-mode – we don’t have the radiance (as a group), so we’re all awaiting radiance removal with some enthusiasm.

Elsewhere in-game, I finally have my rune-keeper up to Kindred with the Malledhrim in Mirkwood. My plan now is to finish the volume 2 epilogue quests, and then through run volume 3 as far as it goes (i.e. into Enedwaith) – but without running any of the Enedwaith quests outside of the epic line.  I also need to max out some of my RK’s traits; I’m one of those players who only ever looks at traits as a last resort – i.e. when I’ve done everything else that I want to do with a particular toon….I’m just lazy, I guess!

Enedwaith Reputation Items

Now that I’m gaining kindred status with both the Algraig and the Grey Company [with my various toons], I’ve been taking some interest in the reputation rewards offered by these two Enedwaith factions.

One of the first things I noticed was the duplication of an item – ‘Arthgarab’ – at least in name, if not in stats, between the Grey Company reputation vendor and an item dropped by Istum in Dar Narbugud.

Arthgarab and Arthgarab

Arthgarab and Arthgarab - which is the fake?!

As you can see, Arthgarab is the name of a light armour head-piece in two different forms…the teal version (which I use when radiance is not required) on my LM. The non-teal version comes from the Grey Company. Presumably, the duplicate naming of the Grey Company version is a bug?!

As for the other reputation items offered by the Algraig and the Grey Company, these are the ones that offer the most interest to me (I’m not commenting on cosmetics, emotes, mounts or housing items – just equipable items for use in end-game content)…

The token & heavy shield of ‘Resilience’ are a nice pairing for a guardian:

The Enedwaith token & shield of ‘Warding’ look a good best for a warden (although I’m no warden expert!):

The Ededwaith token and light shield of ‘Perseverance’ are an ok combo for a minstrel:

The Enedwaith token and cloak of Elegance could be used by a variety of classes:

The Grace set isn’t a bad bet for any tactical class:

I’ve ticked off a few deeds over the last few days. Deeds are like buses – you don’t get one for ages, and then a load come along at about the same time!

First up, I hit kindred with the Iron Garrison Miners on both my Rune-Keeper and my Loremaster – both on the same day – having repeatedly run the Library of Steel quest that is available in Dolven View. This quest coughs up 1,200 reputation and some very handy tier two LI relics. The Nimble Redhorn Goat is a nice steed, too.

Second up, I happened to be running my Loremaster through Eregion, on the way to Enedwaith, when I remembered the long neglected ‘Ridge Racer’ deed. So I hopped on my newly acquired goat, and after half and hour of trying to make the initial jump, finally managed the required lead, edged along the almost invisible path, and finally achieved the ‘Ridge Racer’ title. Happy Days.

Third on my recent list was getting to kindred with the Algraig, on my first toon. I quickly picked up the Algraig horse which I another of Turbine’s new mount – again, a very good looking mount.

Lastly, I finally a finished the ‘Orcs of the Forge’ deed for zeal, last night, on my guardian – whilst running Forges with some kin mates for the level 58 LM class quests. My guardian’s zeal now stands at 9, and I can grind this up to 10, if I can be bothered to head into the Misty Mountains and kill another 40 or so giants. Coincidently, I now only need to kill two trolls in the Forges to have complete the final deed in there – Blinded by Fire – as/when I manage that, it will be the first time I’ve finished all of the quests & deeds within any one of the Khazâd-Dûm classics (Grand Stairs, Fil Gashen, Forges, Dark Delving, 16th Hall, and Skumfil).

Bog Warden and Tundra Horse

In real life, the spring weather has been fantastic for the last week, so what with the longer daylight hours, I’ve been spending most of my spare time away from the PC. That said, I’ve not been entirely inactive, so here’s a wee update…

Last weekend, I completed the ‘Hero of the Upper Levels’ deed in Moira, with my lore-master (still level 59). I’ve also managed to get to Kindred rep with the Iron Garrison Guards, so I’ve picked up the ‘Nature Friend’ legendary trait. See the attached picture of my Bog-Warden!

Finally, at time of writing, I’ve just completed vol 2, book 4, chapter 7 ‘The Drowned Treasury’, so I’ll be working though the solo quests to get to the next fellowship quests in vol 2, book 5, chapter 5 before I head on out to Lorien.

With my rune-keeper (level 51), I’m finally out of Forochel, having hit Kindred Rep with the Lossoth – so I now have a Tundra Horse to show for my patience (see below). Eregion, here I come!

I’m not really using my level 65 (tank) at the moment, apart from an hour’s soiree into the 16th Hall last Sunday to help a couple of kinnies complete their level 58 class quests (rune-keeper and hunter class quests). The only part of the game I really still want to do at level 65, is to successfully run Sammath Gul, but my kin appears to have gone to sleep in the Spring sunshine, so I’ll bide my time. If I don’t get to complete it, c’est la vie. I certainly don’t have the time, or even the inclination, to be raiding (Barad Guldur, Dar Narbugud, The Rift, etc) at the moment – most of my current playing time is in chunks of about an hour, or less…real life is just too busy.

Talking of spring, the end of the in-game ‘Spring Festival’ is almost upon us. Like a lot of folks, I’m still awaiting the festival horse vendor bug-fix, so that I can pick up a ‘Spring Festival’ mount for both my lore-master (level 59), and for my warden (level 36). I’ll post a picture of each, as and when Turbine sort it out.
