Preparing for Isenguard

Ok, so we’re still two months or so away from the release of Isenguard, but most folks who I know are doing one of two things:

  1. Levelling alts to level cap so that they can be brought straight through into the new content, come September’s release, and/or
  2. Working on their existing level 65 toons, to bring them fully up to scratch.
Raiding seems to have stopped – at least in my kin. We’re still running 3-mans and 6-mans, but nothing bigger. I’m firmly in the second of the above camps, anyway. I’m now busily trying to sort out the following:
  1. Getting all my skirmish soldiers (one for each toon) up to 65, including all traits. This is taking some time, as I’ve always been very skirmish-phobic.
  2. Trying to get my preferred virtues levelled up to 12, where possible.  The virtue cap is being raised from 10 to 12, as part of Isenguard. This basically means deeding.
  3. Trying to finish off those odd quests that have been hanging around far too long. I’m a bit of a completionist, quest wise, so I don’t have too many of these – but some need my attention, nevertheless.
All in all, I have to say that I’m quite enjoying the change of pace that the above is providing. If I get it all done before September, I might even start levelling another alt…I have a level 35 Burglar who I might just start playing again…hmmmmm!

Keeping Busy

Posted in Diary, Epic Quests, Instances, lotro, Traits, Virtues with tags , , , , , , , on March 22, 2011 by Corleth

The last week has seen LoTRO in limbo – as least as far as life on the Gilrain server and within the Twilight Gathering kin, has been concerned. As I said in my last post, most folks seem to be doing other ‘things’ (i.e. non-LoTRO stuff) while they wait for Update 2.

As it happens, Update 2 has also just been delayed on this side of the Atlantic. Codemasters have decided to call off today’s planned go-live, due to the ‘relic bug’ that was found after the go-live on the Turbine servers, yesterday. I’m quite happy about the delay – I’d rather get the bug fix sorted before I get to play. Added to that, I’ve been keeping myself more than busy in-game, too.

Over the last week, I’ve….

  • Taken my minstrel on a kin run though Sammath Gul. This was without doubt the smoothest run though SG that I’ve ever been involved with. We had it done in a little under an hour, with no deaths what-so-ever, and Gorothul killed in challenge-mode to boot. The only down side was that I failed to win any nice shinies *sigh*.

  • Taken my guardian through Halls of Crafting. Again, a really quick run though, completed challenge-mode, with no deaths involved. Again, no shinies though 😦
  • Attempted and completed the 3-man Dungeons of Dol Guldur instance, on my guardian. We managed to get 7 our of the 9 elves out of their cells and into the main hall; and then one died in the boss fight, so we failed challenge-mode by one (saving 6 out of the 9 elves in total). A really fun instance. Again, no shinies worth a damn, but I’ll be going back to try for challenge-mode.
  • Completed all outstanding Volume 2 epilogue quests with my rune-keeper.

While I’m waiting for Update 2, I’m now off deeding with my RK, trying to get her Wisdom, Innocence, Loyalty and Fidelity all up to 10 – and maybe a few other virtues as well. Once that’s all done, it’ll be onto the volume 3 quests line – but Update 2 might interfere with that…

Another New Mount

I’ve finally hit Kindred reputation with the Grey Company with my lore-master – and picked up the Grey Company mount as a result. Nothing too exciting, I know, but there’s not much been happening in-game over the last week or so.

I think everyone is waiting for ‘Update 2’ to hit. From what I’ve read, it looks like it will hit the EU servers on or around the 22nd March – maybe. After the huge delay to ‘Update 1’ here in the EU (last autumn), nobody is counting any chickens 😉

I have to say that the thing I’m most looking forward to with regard to the new update, is the LI changes. As a casual player, and a bit of an alto-holic, I’m not someone who has ever gotten near maxing out my LIs with regard to relics. I have a few tier 9s scattered across my various level-caped alts…but only a few. The new changes should make it much easier for me to acquire top level (now tier 6) relics, for each of my LIs. Still, we’ll see…

I’m also looking forward to the new raids. In my kin, I think we’re all a bit burnt out on the existing raids – BG excepted; and as I’ve said before, whilst we’d love a crack at the Lieutenant in challenge-mode – we don’t have the radiance (as a group), so we’re all awaiting radiance removal with some enthusiasm.

Elsewhere in-game, I finally have my rune-keeper up to Kindred with the Malledhrim in Mirkwood. My plan now is to finish the volume 2 epilogue quests, and then through run volume 3 as far as it goes (i.e. into Enedwaith) – but without running any of the Enedwaith quests outside of the epic line.  I also need to max out some of my RK’s traits; I’m one of those players who only ever looks at traits as a last resort – i.e. when I’ve done everything else that I want to do with a particular toon….I’m just lazy, I guess!
